"Desperately longing to educate and motivate people to participate in ending the cycle of poverty and homelessness in our communities through action and love."

The Wesley Cycle of Hope is a bicycle journey in which a team of nine college students will travel the country coast-to-coast, from San Francisco, CA to Virginia Beach, VA, educating people about the misconceptions of homelessness and poverty and how we, as a country and a church, can unite to fight this global issue.

James 2:26 For just as the body without the spirit is dead,
so also faith without works is dead.

We will be traveling the country to "break the cycle" in two ways: 1) to expose and correct the myths of homelessness and poverty, and 2) to raise money for organizations that strive to end and prevent this dilemma at home and abroad. We will be partnering with and raising money for two reputable Christian organizations: Safe House Atlanta, and The Humble School (Uganda)

We will be stopping in towns all across America, talking with churches, organizations, and anyone who will listen in hopes of Breaking the Cycle of misconceptions that leave us dormant in the fight against these issues. This journey will span over two months, 3000 total miles at 75 miles a day, and over 40 full days of riding. During this time, we will be removing ourselves from the comfort of hotels and other luxuries so that we can more fully show our love through action.

Galatians 6:10 So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all people…

Homelessness and poverty are issues that need to be truly understood by those who profess the love of Christ so that we may better serve those around us. By buying into the stereotypes and misconceptions of poverty that society feeds us, we are only continuing the ruthless cycle that holds millions of our brothers and sisters down.

Our wish is to BREAK THE CYCLE.

Our hope is that we will be a traveling inspiration for people to go and love individuals in their community and join us in an effort to better the lives of those less fortunate than ourselves. We have a responsibility as both humans and believers to care for those around us, by serving and loving everyone.

Matthew 25:40 The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of mine, even the least of them,
you did it to me.’

We cannot sit idly by while there are millions of people suffering every day. We cannot depend on government and false philanthropists to help those in need when the Church itself must stand united. We must take action, whether it's something as small as saying a nice word to a homeless person, or something as huge as taking your family to work at your local soup kitchen. We can all play a part. The power of change lies in our hands; we must not let differences divide us any longer. Regardless of skin color, social status, or circumstances, we are all the same and we must break the lines that have divided us all for so long. We must see others as Christ does.

In the end, we hope that people will be well equipped to go out and love the world. This begins with the realization that loving the world begins in our own home town. We can all take small steps towards making a big difference, simply by making an effort to love those often passed by and forgotten.
